Anstruther Station - disused
Anstruther in the East Neuk of Fife

Anstruther Station, Fife

The railway line along the coast of the East Neuk was closed in 1965 as part of the infamous Beeching cuts to the national network.

This photo is looking south-east from behind Antruther Wester and as well as the old railway bridge it shows several other points of interest.

The bridge is over the Dreel Burn which runs down past the newly-restored Dreel Halls - the square tower - and divides Anstruther Easter and Wester. The harbour is visible as are the shops along the harbourside, the marina and the RNLI station.

Not only can the Isle of May be clearly seen on the horizon but the boat that carries tourists to the island - The May Princess - can be seen heading back into the harbour.
