The National Burns Monument & Mossgiel Farm
north of Mauchline, East Ayrshire
![]() This is located on the north edge of the town of Mauchline, Ayrshire, and was built to commemorate the life of Robert Burns who lived and worked in the town and on Mossgiel Farm, nearby. ![]() That's the A76 just behind the monument - the main trunk road from Kilmarnock to Dumfries. ![]() The town of Mauchline can be seen down the hill. ![]() These are the Jean Armour Burns Houses, run by the Association of Glasgow Burns Clubs in memory of Jean Armour, Robert Burns' wife. They're built on land that was a part of Mossgiel Farm, which Burns worked for a few years as a tenant farmer. ![]() The houses with Mossgiel Farm in the middle distance. The road through both pictures runs from Mauchline westwards to Tarbolton.
