The R & A and Hamilton Grand in St Andrews
Hamilton Grand is now restored and ready for occupation
Looking up the 18th fairway towards Hamilton Grand which is the striking red sandstone building sitting in Golf Place just behind the 18th green of the Old Course.
It's a pretty fair location which has direct views down the 1st and 18th fairways and free almost overhead views of the final green when the Open is held at St Andrews.
The street off into the centre is called The Scores and other images can be seen
by clicking this line of text.
From a little further back the Royal & Ancient is less visible and the detail shots below - taken from the full-sized images - give you some idea of the quality of the pictures.
The carving leaves no room for doubt. “Hamilton Grand” it most certainly is.
And this tells you that the images were taken around 4:45pm in late afternoon sunlight.
