The Paddle Steamer Waverley at Fairlie Quay
Fairlie, North Ayrshire
The Paddle Steamer Waverley arriving at Fairlie Quay.
There will be no sailings in 2019 as she is laid up and needs new boilers. Fund-raising is underway.
On the left is the island of Great Cumbrae, the north horizon is the Cowal Peninsula and Largs and the marina cum yacht haven is on the right.
Just arriving at Fairlie Pier. This was never a regular calling point for the Waverley
perhaps because the pier is a little too high for easy access.
The Paddle Steamer Waverley reversing away from the pier.
We understand that she had to go astern to avoid running aground in shallow water.
Not a new experience for the Waverley but perhaps best avoided.
And finally, having turned backwards in a semi-circle, the Paddle Steamer Waverley heading off to the north.
