Burns Monument and Mossgiel
Mauchline, East Ayrshire
This monument is located on the north edge of the town of Mauchline and was built to
commemorate the life of Robert Burns who lived and worked in the town and on
East Mossgiel farm, nearby.
That's the A76 just behind the monument - the main trunk road from Kilmarnock to Dumfries.
The town of Mauchline can be seen down the hill.
These houses have now been demolished and replaced with some brand new
cottages a few yards away. Photos later.
The houses with East Mossgiel farm in the middle distance.
The new houses have been built just beyond the old ones.
