Burns Monument and Mossgiel - Mauchline, East Ayrshire
This monument is located on the north edge of the town of Mauchline and was built to
commemorate the life of Robert Burns who lived and worked in the town and on
Mossgiel Farm, nearby.
That's the A76 just behind the monument - the main trunk road from Kilmarnock to Dumfries.
The town of Mauchline can be seen down the hill.
These are/were the Jean Armour Burns Houses, run by the Association of Glasgow
Burns Clubs in memory of Jean Armour, Robert Burns' wife.
They're built on land that was a part of Mossgiel Farm, which Burns worked
for a few years as a tenant farmer.
These have now been demolished and replaced with some brand new
cottages a few yards away. Photos later.

The new houses have been built just beyond the old ones.
