Anstruther Station - disused - Fife
The station was closed in 1965 as part of the infamous Beeching cuts.
This photo is looking south-east from behind Antruther Wester and as well as the
old railway bridge it shows several other points of interest.
The bridge is over the Dreel Burn which runs down past the newly-restored Dreel Halls
- the square tower with the steeple, just left of centre - and divides Anstruther Easter
and Wester. The harbour is visible as are the shops along the harbourside, the marina
and the current RNLI station.
Not only can the Isle of May be clearly seen on the horizon but the boat that carries
tourists to the island - The May Princess - can be seen heading back into the harbour.
A closer view of the old bridge and access paths.
That's the Dreel Burn flowing from right to upper left towards the sea to the north.
