Kilchurn Castle - Loch Awe - Argyll & Bute

Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe, Argyll & Bute, Scotland

The photographs on this page are looking westwards over Loch Awe.

Kilchurn Castle is on a promontory in the north of Loch Awe in Argyllshire.

Behind the castle is the River Orchy flowing down from Glen Orchy to the east - right to left from this viewpoint.

The hill to the right is Stob Maol leading up to the peak of Beinn Eunaich and up the valley of the Allt Mhoille is Beinn a'Chochuill, both of them being Munros.

Views of the castle from the north can be seen here: Kilchurn Castle north

A panorama from Loch Awe Village to the left right across to the castle.

There's a ground level view of the castle from the lay-by on the west side of the A810 just south of its junction with the A85 to the west of Dalmally.

The hill just above the loch is Monadh Driseig, alongside Stob Daimh. Ben Cruachan and the power station are to the left of this photo.

Loch Awe is about 125 feet (38 metres) above sea level.
