Eglinton Castle - in ruins - Kilwinning

Eglinton Castle in Eglinton Park, Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, Scotland

A few views of the ruins of Eglinton Castle just outside Kilwinning.

The castle is located within Eglinton Castle Country Park on the inland edge of Irvine, North Ayrshire, just by the A78.

Like a lot of castles in the area it was owned and run by the Montgomeries who were in pretty constant dispute with the Cunninghames, another local family.

A member of the same family was also involved in the planning and building of Eaglesham in Renfrewshire, seen by clicking here: Eaglesham.
