Forth & Clyde Canal - Grangemouth
The lock at the new (north) end of the Forth & Clyde Canal in Grangemouth.
This is all part of the development of the Falkirk Helix, the centrepiece of which are
the Kelpies just to the north of here, seen lower down this page.
The other end of the canal at Bowling Basin on the Clyde can be seen here:
Looking just south of east towards the Falkirk Helix and the Kelpies you can easily see the new
canal extension as it runs alongside the river.
In past times the emerged into the river a few hundred yards upsteam from here,
to the right of the Kelpies from this view.
The Kelpies are on either side of the entrance to this new canal extension just
on the far side of the M9.
The centre section of the above photograph.
The A905 (Grangemouth north towards Stirling) crossing over the new extension.
Further upstream are the bridge under the M9 and the Kelpies.
