Culross Palace, Town House and village
Fife
Looking down on to Culross Palace from over the Green.
Now in the hands of the National Trust for Scotland the Palace and village
are popular stops on the Fife tourist route.
The Palace or “Great Lodging” is painted in yellow ochre, which was the height
of fashion when it was built between 1597 and 1611 by Sir George Bruce, the Laird of Carnock.
The plastic pigs? Some sort of charity fund-raising effort. Vegans and vegetarians are
hopefully allowed discretion when it comes to contributing.
Faces have been blurred to avoid any privacy complaints.
(No, not the pigs, the people.)
This wide view shows both the Palace - the yellow buildings on the left - and the Town House
with the clock tower to the right.
The Town House from straight on.
Tucked in behind are the Culross Pottery Gallery and Biscuit café.
Looking up Back Causeway towards the Mercat Cross.
And from further east, looking up Mid Causeway towards the Mercat Cross.
